Kit Folly was just another teenage girl... ...and she still is. To be perfectly clear, she still deals with the ups and downs of her failing grades, less-than-supersonic social life, dumb teenage boys, and the nearing void of life after high school. She just happens to be juggling her superhero side-gig at the same time. A mission like any other fails to go as planned, and Kit and her team find themselves confronted with a mysterious new villain with a new dangerous power that threatens all of superhero-kind. In the wake of an unexpected loss, they have to compensate with a new arrival to the crew--one whom Kit would have preferred to never see again. To top it all off, there's family health problems, daddy issues, bullying, a lot of homework, and a burgeoning romance with an old enemy. Well--if you want to call it that. "I walk down the school hallway, "don't make eye contact" I keep repeating in my head. The sweet smell of cologne and perfume fills the halls. I keep walking trying not to get noticed. I see the doors of the school getting closer and closer. I speed up trying to make it in time. I reach out to grab the door handle, and right as I'm about to take my step to freedom, I hear my name being called. And I know exactly who it is. The person who makes my life miserable. The person that makes me want to die more and more each day. The one person who knows my only weaknesses. The school bully." Jessica is a 15 year old at Marino High school. She's a straight A student and she lives a normal life. Or at least she did. It all started when she was 7th grade. Her mom became MIA (missing in action). Her dad became an angry man. He thought the whole reason why Jessica's mom left, was because of Jessica. He beats her every day. And to top it all off, she gets bullied at school. Will her life ever become normal again? "I've tried telling them I'm only fifteen. That no sane government would force a boy my age to fight crime. 'But Max, you're a superhero! Isn't this what you want?' Actually, no. I just kind of want to get through high school. Then we'll talk about this 'superhero' business." Max Owens is your average high school sophomore. Well, he tries to be, at least. At fifteen, he's got more important things to do than fight the infamous Vinicus Cauldwell. With his single mother having recently lost her job, Max is determined to help his family get back up on its feet. The publicity and pressure that comes with being a superhero would be too much to handle right now. But it's hard to fly under the radar, when you can literally fly. Meanwhile, Vinicus Cauldwell enjoys the power he has as Murkbourne's most feared super-villain. For once, he can sit back and relax without being pestered by the police. That is, until Max arrives. Vinicus isn't happy about having to fight a child, but he can't let Max find out. After all, super-villains can't be "good people"... Can they? We can't all be born heroes. Any teenager knows that starting high school is the worst experience of their short lives. You're forced to associate with cliques, follow antiquated rules, conform to stereotypes, and also, be a hero. Except, for us, the last one is a little bit more literal. Not only do we have to navigate through high school, but we have to hold the pressure of being the next generation of superheroes as well.Complete
I Fell in Love with a Bad Boy
CRINGE WARNING! First book I ever wrote on here!! -- "Sometimes the person who you are willing to take a bullet for is the person behind the gun." I stood peering over the cold lifeless body that lay before my eyes. I had always thought of death the enemy, but right now, I blessed it upon the person who is now at peace. Sometimes you don't need to be the smartest, or the fastest, but you do need to be wisest. They say the blood runs deeper than water, and I believe it, because even though the people that we love can turn on us and begin to hate us, they are only human, meaning that soon they will begin to see how short life really is and how it is not to be wasted. People who seem perfect and they look like they have no floors'; they are the people who are suffering, like I was. But I found my savior in the most uncommon place. He was able to look through my mask, he saw the cracks, and tried to fix the broken girl that hid away deep inside the girl who only wanted to be seen as 'fine'. I slowly began to find comfort and safety in him, and I did the same to him. We were two broken people becoming whole. Someone once said when you pass, if you can count your true friends on one hand you are beyond lucky, and I even though I did not like the person that lay before me, I know that he once had true friends, including me. I'm a 17 year old girl who has suffered more than any other, beginning to believe that 'Hope' was just another word the people throw around. Until I fell in love with a badboy.
