I smirk and say, “Why?”
“Because another one of God’s angels is coming back home,” he responds with that soft smile still on his face as another tear escapes his eye.
I hug him again. Tight this time. Like my life is depending on it. I think, maybe, it does depend on it. “I love you so much, John,” I say.
He hugs me back slowly and says, “I love you, too, Al.”
I sob and take a deep breath to say, “I’m gonna miss you, buddy.”

I looked up into those beautiful blue eyes that made me feel like I was walking on water every time I held his gaze. He pulled me in by my hand and held me close. I rested my head on his chest as he stroked my hair trying to comfort me while the tears slide down my face. I looked back up to him and asked, "What now?" I jolted up from my bed looking at the buzzing alarm clock that blared the radio. 9:30 am. I was sweating and my face was glistening with tears. My covers were thrown on to the floor and my pillows disappeared to the end of my bed. I was late for my shift at Starbucks, crap. But I can't shake off that I keep having the same dream over and over again. It's been a full week now of the same thing. I don't get what it's trying to tell me. That was my last memory of my first love. But I've moved on. I'm with Cameron now. I pushed the dream out of my mind as I slide off the edge of my bed. I stumbled to my closet and got out my uniform. I was almost to the door when I remembered the leather jacket I brought. I turned back to the room and just as I entered the most wonderful smell hit my nose.
