For centuries, there have been many urban legends and myths told. From the boogeyman to Bloody Mary and so forth.
This one however, is one that haunts me to this day. This is real.
 I experienced something when I was a little girl that I will never forget. What was told to kids in schools and by the parents to keep the children from ever going into the woods that surround a small town in Oregon, became real. In fact, there's even a song to the story that goes like this:

Little cabin in the woods
There a man by the window stood 
Always watching & searching outside
Looking for more kids to find
Help me! Help me! They would cry!
Telling them it will be alright
To just close their eyes and count to three
And it will all be over quickly
