I have to keep forcing my pen to move across this paper and continue to document everything I can remember about what happened, since I'll never be able to tell another living person about the struggles of the fights and how drastically my best friend's and my lives were altered.

Sure, some beneficial things came out of those events, but an even larger number of horrendous acts were committed on behalf of a six-year-old girl. Lives were lost, morals were thrown away, order turned to absolute chaos, and nothing was easy anymore.

Sometimes, I wonder what would have happened if we never decided to follow our curious instincts and checked out the source of that sound. Would we have been left alone? Would my family have stayed united?
Would I still be alive tomorrow?
