"You left me!" I paused to try to catch my breath but it seemed as if no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get enough air into my lungs. After a few moments of silence I continued. "I waited up for you every night for 364 days. On that last day though.. I went to bed. I got home from school, walked up the stairs, and slept on your side of the bed. The side that hadn't been touched since I saw the note. The same bed where you told me I was your forever. The last person who touched it was you. I wanted it to stay that way. But it was that night that I knew you wouldn't come back to me. You changed your number and blocked me on everything. At first I was making up excuses for you. I blamed myself. Maybe if I had just given in, maybe if I had taken those cooking lessons from my mother when she offered, maybe I should've let you pick the bathroom color.. But then the excuses got ridiculous. No one held a gun to your head and forced you to leave me. You left because you wanted to. You wanted to live your dreams.. I just guess I wasn't in them anymore.." i jumped a little when the monitor that showed his heart rate speed up. "don't act like you care now. You left and never came back to me." I stood up when I caught myself waiting for a response. "you know, I promised myself id never wait around for you like I did before.. But here I am sitting and waiting for a response from the man I once considered my world who is in a coma... funny right? But its ok. This was the closure I needed. Thanks." I nodded quickly before I walked out of his room only to hear someone on the speaker call for a code blue and to see staff running towards the room I just exited. I couldn't be here. I shouldn't. He wouldn't want me here. So with the images of us dancing under the stars floating through my head I exited the hospital and didn't look back.
