Honestly how would you feel knowing that you can save an entire family but lose your life or allow the family to suffer for you to live? Would you try to find a different path so both you and the family could have peace?
That's how Fate works right? One must suffer so others could be at peace. Everyone doesn't get a happy ending no matter how hard you try to change that.
