Thrown into a world of what some people would call delusion, Olivia Ross and her brother, Gage, become aware that dreams are, in fact, reality.   Covered in ashes, Olivia and Gage are found by a mysterious boy named Miles Teller who takes them to The Arcane- a unique group of people who also know that dreams are actuality.   The Arcane tells Olivia and Gage that their parents might have had information of the rising dictator, Sammuel Darrien, who is working towards ruling a totalitarian government via dreams.   Forced to travel with The Arcane's most trusted group to rescue their parents, they fly to Washington, DC: the source of Sammuel's reign.   Time is thinning and the group must endure hallucination and deception if they ever want to find Olivia and Gage's parents and stop Sammuel. Lucinda wanting nothing to do with Daniella strips her of not only her wealth, but her pride and integrity, banishing her to the confines of the plantations basements, only allowing her to see the light of day, to wait on her stepsisters. Soon, Daniella wilts away to nothing, not wanting to live that way anymore, she promises herself peace after one deed is finished. During the night, she sneaks up from the basements and kills her step family, but what she doesn't learn until she dies herself, is one of the sisters never really died. Present Day United States- Every Year, the De Exter Plantation is publicly open on Halloween Night. It is known to be the most haunted location in all of Louisiana. Every Halloween a lottery is drawn in the small town of Exter, the winners win an all night pass to the grounds and the house. Complete lock-down from dusk til dawn. This year 21 Year old Hunter Brigley and his 7 year old sister Hope and 2 others are forced onto the plantation well before the lockdown and its a struggle from the moment the gate closes to stay alive. Hunter uses his common sense and logic to his advantage, but soon fear of loosing his sister overwhelms him and he soon finds out is just how confusing and distorted reality gets once inside the Plantation walls. He has to risk everything just to save his and his sisters life. And being descended from the very family that the ghost who supposedly haunts the plantation killed, doesnt put the odds in there favor.

Pen's uncle is a cop, and ever since she was able to crawl, she was being versed in the arts of stranger danger (and possibly a few karate, ninja-like moves). So when some unknown guy begins to chat her up through her car window, and then goes on to watch her as she drives away, she does what she's been taught: she goes to the cops. However, this turns out to be the least suspicious thing to occur in the following week. A new boy at Penelope's school invites her over to dinner, and suddenly she's being informed that she's involved in a prophecy (which was written on, excuse me, is that toilet paper?) to help stop an evil mastermind named Sir Dastardly and reclaim the prized Purity Crystal. Pen's reaction? (Well, after she goes a little crazy with her stun gun.)
