"Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it ceases to exist.

I believe in many invisible things- ghosts, Bigfoot, unicorns.

Mainly, though, I believe in myself- the girl hidden within the pale blue walls of this five-room, two story building under the unnerving fluorescent lights. I'm the girl no one has ever seen.

But I exist.

Don't I?"

Compound 4 was burned to the ground. Compound 5 was liberated. Compounds 2 and 3 wait patiently for Jay and Isaac to arrive with the vaccine that has been created to protect what's left of the human race from The Virus that nearly wiped them out fifteen years ago.

That leaves Compound 1, nestled in the deep woods of the northern United States. The warning they sent to Jay's supporters was clear: stay away. But Jay's never been good at following directions.

Outside Compound 1, a laboratory exists. The bottom floor is a home; the upper floor is anything but. Mya Julien's life consists of needles, machines, tests and sickness. Being immune comes with a price, and when a dark-haired stranger crashes unwillingly into their life, she and her brother Finn discover a haunting truth.

No one can miss you, if no one knows you exist.

This is the last installment in the Immune series. Be sure to check out book one (Immune) and book two (Selected) before reading.

Employee Five: A To Be A Runner Short Story by GravityWillFall01
4 parts Complete
Just because we're living in a world where a disease can make the dead walk, doesn't mean that that disease is the only one we have to worry about. Junin2-one of the most deadliest diseases out there. We need the vaccine. Now that most doctors are dead and most medical equipment and knowledge is gone, we have to prepare for this disease as best we can. The only way we can do that, is get the vaccine. The only problem, the vaccine is locked away in a high security facility run by an AI. To get in, you must be registered as an employee of the company Xia-Hifa, the company that creates the vaccine. That is where I come in. Time is running out. Junin2 season is getting closer and closer. I have to get in there and get that vaccine before it kills us all in one of the most horrendous ways possible. It shouldn't be too hard-get my special T-shirt, do well on my performances, and get out. Should be okay, right? Wrong. A.N.N.I.E. is a lot smarter than we thought. Don't speak. Don't let it hear your voice. It will deceive you. It will hurt you. "You keep calling me 'it'. You wouldn't like being called 'it', would you?" Let me ask you this, what is your top priority? "Safe is an interesting concept." Mine is saving Abel, no the matter the cost. "Tagged you, Five. You're 'it'." Disclaimer-I do now own Zombies, Run! or its characters. I only own the characters I created on my own. This is my Five's version of the 2016 Virtual Race.
The Altered. by _fiinch_
81 parts Complete Mature
guys please don't read this anymore lmao i write totally differently now💋 _________________ In a future where humans are genetically modified -- 'altered' -- at the age of sixteen, the world has been, until now, a safe place. Without changing a person's personality, undergoing the Alteration perfects their appearance, IQ, and even their immunity to diseases. No human passes the age of sixteen without being Altered. In the blink of an eye, things change. An ominous message is sent out to all of those below the age of sixteen, providing precise instructions that suggest they flee. Simultaneously, a deadly virus starts to spread all about the world, attacking only the Altered -- every human over the age of sixteen. The virus eats at the modified human brain, and soon the Unaltered begin to realise that the Altered are losing their minds. Home is no longer safe. Friends and family turn on one another, losing control of their own minds and bodies. The Unaltered aren't safe. Even if the virus isn't attacking them, the ones with the virus are. Set on a pristine, futuristic Earth, this is the apocalypse like you've never seen it before. (Rated mature for graphic depictions of violence and mild language.) A Different Virus - Laura's Story by CrystalScherer
153 parts Complete
This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original. The cover was made by @All_AboutAssymetry. A huge thanks to her! Copyright September 2016. All Rights Reserved. Readers may not copy, alter, or steal this story.
