this story takes place in a city in texas in the 1980s and deals with a group of high school students and a teacher each dealing with a problem and each of them finding a unique way to cope with it the problems range from a simple crush on a girl whos uninterested to desiring to be accepted by a crowd This part of the story deals with a boy who likes a girl who was always cold towards him, youll learn her reasons in her story But for now, the kid was known to be the funny and dumb one of the group and class and always hides his feelings, only letting it out in fictional conversations in his head This scene takes place as hes walking to his desk for a paired assignment with the girl and he recites the following speech in his head
