A vendor and his driver are falling for each other despite his recent and tragic heartbreak and her current boyfriend. Rumors are flying around the small town of Keeper that revolve around an unexpected suicide that might be murder, married cheaters, and some cat kidnappings (cat nappers?).

Stuart foolishly thinks his depressing state is easing back into normality after the loss off his girlfriend until one rumor starts floating around town accusing him of murder. Just trying to rebuild himself during a much needed vacation, Stuart finds himself battling the speculations of his fellow towns people, along with his overwhelming desires for his not-very-single coworker. As she starts becoming his personal damsel in distress he stars seeing himself as her Knight in black slacks. In this fairy tale, however, the damsel princess already betrothed to another, and the knight is a depressed vendor tying to fill the hole in his heart.

Mental abuse is so common for Troi that she can't figure out why her boss being nice to her causes butterflies in her stomach. Desperate to be faithful to an undeserving man she ignores her longings and resists the forbidden fruit that is Stuart. As her life starts to crumble around her, however, she's constantly finding herself in need of a rescuer. Unfortunately the only one answering her calls is the man she needs to avoid before she becomes the topic of the next "guess who's cheating on who" rumor.
