Sometimes things happen so quickly and once it's over you are left stunned and wondering how or why this could happen.
Lilyrose Carson knows of this all too well, her mother left when she was three, and five years later her father died in a train wreck on a business trip to Vancouver. The last words he said to her brother; Jace, was "promise me you'll take care of your lil sis while I'm gone okay?" Then he glanced at the sitter and she gave him the usual reassurance of 'your kids are in great hands' before he stepped out the door to go to the station.

Shadows and Sunlight
A Story of Loss, Love, and the Light That Follows Darkness. Prologue The night the world ended, Sophia Lewis sat in her father's old armchair, gripping his worn-out leather jacket like it was a life raft. The funeral had been quiet-too quiet. The kind of quiet that suffocated. The kind that told her everything had changed. Her father, the man who had taught her how to fix a car, how to make the perfect cup of coffee, how to laugh even when the world was cruel, was gone. And with him, he had taken a piece of her. For months, Sophia wandered through life like a ghost in her own skin. Her friends faded away. Her dreams no longer seemed worth chasing. The world kept moving, but she was stuck-frozen in grief. Until he showed up.
Five Seconds After the Flash
Reid shrugged. "I mean, you can't keep looking for the person that you were, because you're different now. You lost someone who was really important in your life. You don't just go back to who you were before that." I hadn't wanted to start talking about Grandpa, and I felt the familiar tightness in my throat. I was comfortable with who I had been, and moving forward meant figuring out a whole new version of myself, someone who could be OK without him. "So, who are you in this new version of my life?" I asked quietly. He looked surprised by my question, and said, "I would say that's up for you to decide, Victoria."Concluída
