I walk towards my car and hear a laugh. "What the fuck are you wearing?" I turn around and look at my ex best friend.
I roll my eyes and frown. "Why are you here?"
He walks over to me and smirks. "Not happy to see me?"
I give him a dry laugh. "Why would you say that? I'm so happy too see you." I roll my eyes.
He raises an eyebrow and frowns. I look him in his eyes and see a hint of sadness. "So where are you going?"
I frown. "Why are you here?"
He frown deepens. "My mom is in there. Where are you going?"
"My friend needs me." I think about his answer and my eyes widen. "Your mom?! But she's so nice!" I say not even trying to hide my shock.
He rolls his eyes. "I was nice to you."
I sigh. "Yeah, you were." I look him in eyes. I step closer to him and whisper in his ear. "The key word in that was the word 'was'."
He stiffens. I back away. "Dani, I know I messed, but I do care about you."
I laugh. "Got a weird way of showing it." I open the car door. "You know when you care about someone you don't lie to them. You don't leave them either."
I get in the car and drive off leaving him with a frown.

The corner of his mouth tilts upward slightly. I smile again. A smile!? A tiny one, but still. "Hm. So I got you to smile, that's progress, yeah? Can I get your name now?"
