In the midst of modern high school life, outspoken 17 year old Janie Parks likes to question and not confirm to society's standards. She lives for the thought of possibility and is desperate to escape her simple town life in Albana County. But when one day a mysterious incident drags her out from her current life and throws her into a futuristic alternate reality, where everyone is the same but greatly different at she same time. She begins to question all that she's missed and is forced to uncover the reasoning of why this happened to her as well as the dark secrets the future world holds. Reluctantly, she pairs with a mysterious boy identifying himself as Max, who seems strangely familiar. As she tries to make sense of the chaos she begins to think that perhaps she was mistaken...maybe Albana County wasn't the worst after all .
