Beginning Anew: a bloodbound remake

Society has been destroyed by the outside forces that plague this world. The shadows possess our loved ones and turn them against their own kind. War was wages just to keep our planet save, but we still have found little ways to combat their kind. Not with the light now struggling to find pure souls with all of them tainted with blood from this war. We are fighting a battle we are going to lose. Our only hope is the next generation, Our children. We hope some of their souls can stay pure as the light continues to search for pure souls. I am very aware that we must protect this planet...but it's a lost cause. I only have three months along with a couple other of our best soldiers to prepare these children for anything...that's plenty of time but that isn't what i worry about. I worry that they will turn on one another, without any form of government, nothing is stopping them from doing to one another as they please...3 months may be enough to train them for what might be to come, but it is not enough to raise a government from the ground up. I hope they can at least figure that out.

In an alternate timeline, the human race found a way to create superpowers. By extracting energy from stars and inserting that energy into humans, 'powers' were created. Powers allowed humans to gain unnatural abilities such as flight, invisibility, super strength or in other words, superpowers. Of course, with the introduction of something so revolutionary, people rose up in the hundreds of thousands in an event known as the Great Rebellion. The insurgents banded together under a single banner and became collectively known as the Shadow, marking the beginning of the Cosmic Wars. Out of the darkness, the Gazers were born. Using what remained of the power technology, the Gazers singlehandedly perished the evil and ended the conflict. However, there was a price to pay. Powers put a toll on the human body and had serious mental and physical repercussions. The solution was to recruit children from the age of 13 to 18 and train them so their bodies would adapt to their powers, eventually becoming immune to all negative side effects. The end of the Cosmic Wars brought forth a new age of peace and prosperity that the world had never seen before. However, the long reign of the Gazers has already begun to crumble, cracks showing up within the very thread of society. Their rule will not last for much longer. The Shadow will rise once again. "The world around her swam with mottled light. How long had she been fighting?" So...in sixth grade we took this computer-skills class. Our final test was to write a short story in Microsoft Word. My story ended up fleshing out into the trilogy I am working on and planning to publish at somepoint in my life, but I realized how incredible my writing skill has improved between just the two or three years.
