That's it, I decided. If he isn't here in five minutes, I'm leaving. Three minutes pass. Then four. Just when I'd decided this isn't worth the embarrassment anymore, a boy that I'd never seen before came and sat down. "Sorry I'm late, babe" he exclaimed loudly, "The traffic was crazy." He flashed me a smile and then quietly added, "Just go with it. Whoever didn't bother to show up is a jerk."
I sat there in silence for a moment considering my options. I could leave him here but that would be rude considering how he's trying to help me or I could go with it. If Jaxon found out about it, he'd be ticked, but because it seemed as if he wasn't going to bother showing up and therefore couldn't know about it, I smiled back at him and said just as loud as he had, "I'm glad you could make it. I was starting to get worried."
