Mara Collins had it all. The perfect life, successful parents, cool friends, a caring brother, she was the prettiest and most popular girl in highschool. And she had Randy. Randy Meade was the all-American quarterback and he was the ideal guy. And he was Mara's faithful and loving boyfriend. Everything was going perfect until in the blink of an eye everything was destroyed.
Unable to cope with losing Randy, she shuts herself out from everyone; her friends,her parents and even her brother. Her world starts to waste away slowly as she struggles to accept reality. Reality being that Randy was never coming back. She thought what they had was forever but forever was taken away from them on one seemingly normal night. As Mara falls further into oblivion, it seems no one can save her.
Cue in Kyle Meade. Randy's shy yet cocky, dark, estranged but sexy and brooding cousin moves to Grazefield and he starts going to school in Mara's school. When he first sees her, she had so much pain in her eyes. She looked broken but she was the most beautiful woman Kyle had ever seen in his life. He wants to help her but will Mara let him? Especially when Kyle reminds her so much of the love she lost.
An unexpected romance blossoms between the two not long after they become friends. Although, neither is able to admit their true feelings for fear of the same thing. Would they be betraying Randy if they gave into each other's emotions and desires?
Will Kyle be able to replace Randy in Mara's heart? Or will Mara be too afraid to let go and they will continue as what they are? As friends. Even if both of them want so much more than that.
