In this novel, the Labors of Hercules have not been completed yet. He has only been born in this century. In this modern telling of the suave 21st century Hercules, he is aided by Levina, who is endowed with the ever-popular power of telepathy. In order for Hercules to protect Levina from the rules that ban mortals from Olympus, he must complete the 12 labors in order to ask of her protection from his father. 
Upon Hercules birth, The Fates have already decided his fate, they only leave the infant with a strange prophecy
