Kai is left scarred, physically and emotionally, after the battle between he and Tech Wu in the junk yard. But when Wu's turned back to normal, he can't remember ever being under the Overlord's power- or fighting Kai, for that matter. He has no idea why Kai suddenly seems so tentative and wary. Protective, too. He figured it was just because he was missing Zane after the second defeat of the Overlord. But there was some other kind of bitterness which changed his mind. Now, Sensei Wu is trying to discover why his student is acting so strangely and gain his trust back at the same time that Kai tries to sort out his feelings about both losing Zane, and losing his sense of protection under Wu's care.
