The story follows the life of Craig Hernandez a... "problem child" who most of his life wasn't even a problem. The environment around him just profiled him as one. Almost abandoned by his family he quickly tried to adjust to their liking, but didn't help him outside of his house. During his second year of college he met someone. Someone who changed his views on a lot of things.

His story is that of denial, struggle with identity, lack of personal freedom and misery. It radiates several lessons and reveals how a person can be totally different from what others know about him.
