Lexi lupin was 4 turning 5, when she ran away from her mothers family. It's not that she didn't love her mother, more so, her mother didn't love her. 

Her mother, Molina black, was related to sirius black. That's how she met Remus, in which they fell in supposed love, however, after two years of Remus being constantly yelled at he had enough.  The woman knew she was pregnant, and prayed that the child would look like her father so she could unleash boiling hot anger on her. 

Remus, had continued on with his boring life, not having a single clue that his daughter even existed and how he wished he did.
