Sherlock had been away for two years, when he had fallen off the building in order to save John. He would've come back, if it wasn't for the crimes he was solving. When he comes back, after Mycroft told him to, he can't help develop feelings for John as they got reunited. He had to keep quiet though, as John was getting married to Mary. John deserved to be happy. Except Sherlock couldn't help thinking John was putting on a facade.
