When the news reaches the king that his younger brother, parading around and calling himself "Shade", has taken part in starting these rebellions, he is furious, and sends his own personal assassin to take care of him and his followers.
But when Mara has a face-to-face encounter with "Shade", she learns about a world she never knew existed, and meets people that she grew to love more than she ever thought possible.
However, some people are still skeptical- how could someone this cold have such a sudden change of heart? And have her loyalties to the king diminished or grown stronger?
