After an accident in eighth grade, Louisa Kelley was blind. Every day was a struggle for her as she tried to adjust to life both at school and at home, but life got easier with practice. As soon as Louisa entered high school, things had changed for the worse. The students around her bullied her because she was different, harassing her, stealing her things, and talking about her behind her back, making an already difficult life so much harder. Now in her junior year of high school, Louisa is broken and without anyone to call a friend. She eventually decides to remove herself from the bullies that surround her daily and be home schooled. That is, until she met Alex. Alex Mirren was born deaf, but when he was six years old, he received a cochlea implant that allowed him to hear. Even after the ten years of speech therapy where he had to teach himself how to hear, Alex prefers to stay in the silence and only communicates with the world when necessary. Life seemed dull to him as he was stuck in between two worlds of silence and noise, not knowing his purpose or place in society. That is, until he saw a girl with a walking stick in the hallways. Louisa and Alex weren't made for each other. Although the very presence of each other gives them new hope and strength, things are difficult as Louisa thrives by using her hearing, while Alex shies away from sound and uses sight. Without being able to communicate easily, they must learn to overcome the barrier of the silence between them, which is easier said than done. But aren't the struggles worth it to be with that one person that means everything?

Not everyone who walk together reaches the destination together. Sometimes, one is left behind. Sometimes, one has to break to complete the other. Silence is love's faithful companion. Love is nothing unless felt. It shows its presence silently, waiting patiently, lurking in the shadows of hearts. All this while, the silence as its faithful companion, holds its hand and bears every sigh, every torment, every skip of a heartbeat, every joy, and every glance with it. They complete each other and yet they don't, for love demands recognition. It requires confirmation and when the love has reached its peak, it pushes the silence down. Breaks it, steps over it, and shouts to the whole world the tale of its existence. And silence, it smiles watching the whole scene. But as it is said, silence in itself is the loudest cry. "I'll always love you too, Kayla," he said smiling at me and I placed my head on his shoulder. We sat in silence with our hearts at peace and filled with content. Can silence speak? Had someone asked me this question before I would never have been able to answer the question. But at this moment I knew the answer. Yes, silence can speak. It can talk volumes. Silence is the loudest music there is. If you listen carefully, you can hear each and every secret of the universe, every story that has ever been told from the beginning of time, every promise made to one another whispered swiftly into your ear. This silence was being the witness to the promise we made to each other. Kayla is a sweet, fun-loving girl. She has a huge crush on her friend. Aaron returns to school after two years. Her heart gets broken only to be put together again. She gave up on love only to find it again in one person she least expected from. She will find love where she least expects it from. "You're quiet." Easton took notice of my usual demeanor, recognizing that being quiet or detached wasn't something that I normally was. "Because I'm in a car with a stranger." He glanced over, left hand still resting on the steering wheel as his brown eyes met mine for a short second. "Do you kiss strangers?" "You kissed me." "You kissed me back." "I didn't want to be rude." I lied, knowing I liked it. I also knew that my response would irritate him, so I kept my eyes on him. The passing streetlights illuminated his features, allowing me to analyze and read every reaction that would become visible. A smile touched his lips as his tongue pressed the side of his mouth. He turned to meet my eye when we stopped at a red light. "That's why you moaned in my mouth, right?" I paused, being caught off guard as words weren't able to form in my mouth. Instantly, I broke eye contact with him as I switched my gaze to the windshield, staring straight. "What?" A teasing smile still playing across his lips. "Is this situation suddenly not funny anymore?" **********
