She was hiding in the dark alleyways of the small town. It was damp and the ground rose with steam from the melting snow. Her boots planted in their spot not daring to move or she might slip or worse, make a sound. This feeling gave her nostalgia. This is where it all started and now it will be where it all ended.

She pushed against the cold brick wall where she was pressing her body up against. Her sweater felt heavy on her shoulders and her heart only began to pound worse in her ears. She peeked around the wall. Nothing. No one in the streets nor walking about the town at this time of night. She let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. Had she lost them? She moved her foot and placed it on the ground slowly and then she took another step. Crunch.

She paused. Then just as slowly once again took another step. Crunch.

Her eyes narrowed. If her ears were like a cat's you would see her ears prick up like one as she strained her hearing. Someone was behind her. The girl gripped the knife she was holding tighter. And as she was about to turn towards the person that said person got to her first.

A gloved hand held the girl's wrist with the knife in it and her jaw was met with the end of a gun. The culprit?

A woman dressed as lovely as ever in a lengthy black coat, fluffy scarf, heels, and one of many decorative hats she adored oh so much was placed on top of the woman's elegantly curled red hair, stood before the girl. And the girl would have recognized that woman who would wear such a hat anywhere. The woman tighten her gloved hand around the girl's wrist and she readied the gun with her other. The woman's face held anger and pleasant victory in catching the girl.

"Let. Me. Go." the girl spat threateningly.

The woman's mouth twitched into an unsettling grin, showing off her perfectly pearl white teeth. "Oh, but my dear Gwen." The woman said with a voice like silver. "I'm afraid that's impossible, because you can never escape me."

"Wanted to be bold." I blush while I avoid eye contact. "Devin needed to borrow clothes for gym." I stare at my bare legs. "I should've told her no." He shrugs, biting into his sub. "Not a fan of exposing the body." I nibble on my burrito. "I just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea." I tuck my hair behind my ear. "That you're easy." My face reddens as I look at him in the corner of my eyes. After a few moments, I nod. He sighs. "The only thing that makes a girl easy is if she lets every and any guy inside." He runs his fingers through his hair. "Clothes or attitude has nothing to do with it." I trace a circle on my thigh. "And a guy that believes otherwise is either a dick or a rapist." I smile. "Avery." "Ava." "Your brain works in wonderful ways." I get more comfortable and lean on his shoulder. "So you've said." I giggle. "I'm glad to share the same name as you." ~ A girl, a perfectionist, named Avery Jones has been in love with her childhood friend's brother for as long as she can remember. Once upon a time darkness was feared and light was a blessing. As darkness was black, black became evil and was feared in return. As light was white, white became virtue and was worshipped in return. Monster they called her they shouted and yell but there was no knight in shining armor or so she thought. She was outcasted, feared, and unwanted for simply being who she was. I was born in darkness but I learned fast the darkness doesn't always equal evil just like light doesn't always bring good. My back was to the wall while he kept his hand right around my throat. "Relax my dear if I wanted you dead you'd be dead already." He threw me on the ground but I wasn't planning on staying there for long I managed to sit up when I see Thomas. " No don't you dare play hero!" He came in running straight for me when he grabs him slamming him to the wall keeping him bound. " I knew you'd come first you're the fastest compared to your brother. No matter you can watch the show once your brother gets here." I realized what he meant...no. No! I started crawling away holding my side when he steps on my leg. "Please...no". He looked at me smiling ear to ear before grabbing me by my hair. I held my tongue I can't cry I can't scream. That's when I hear the sound of a door swinging open. "Enzo...Get your filthy hand of my mate!" His voice roared throughout the room. "Finally the main event can begin"! I looked around the room and my eyes stopped at both of them and I knew that I wasn't going to make it out alive... **Pause** "No, please, please!" I heard them beg but I knew it was out of their control. "I- I'm not afraid to die, I'm only afraid that I'll never see you again" I whimpered quietly, almost whispering. "I love you" was all I was able to say as I felt my life slowly slip away...

Book 1 of "Bloodlust" series. "I'm going to give you one chance to answer me. Where is she?" She asked, looking into my eyes. I looked back at her, terrified. "I swear that I don't know what you're talking about!" I answered, starting to shiver. She smiled wickedly. "You know, the only reason I sent my brother away was because I wanted to interrogate you myself. Whatever he would have done to you doesn't even begin to compare with what I'm going to do to you if you don't answer me. So... One more time. Where. Is. She?" She said, in a condescending tone, as if she was explaining something to a child. "Look, if you want to kill me go ahead. I don't know anything." I said, looking into her eyes and faking the confidence that I definitely didn't have. She looked at me, cocking her head to the side, and for a few seconds I though she wouldn't to anything. My relief didn't last though as she laughed coldly and looked at me with a half smile. Her laughter was beautiful, even though it sent shivers down my spine. It was the same with her eyes and smile. All of which showed me that she wasn't kidding. "Where did you get the necklace?" She asked. I froze, was that what that was all about? I didn't know! "I told you before, my dad left it to me, I swear." I said truthfully. She looked at me for a few seconds, thinking. I couldn't shake the feeling that everything about her was cold. "Well, even if you don't know anything, she'll come for you. And I will have the answers I want." She said with indifference before adding huskily in my ear. "And... I think we can have some fun together while you stay. Don't you agree?" She said as she laughed again and gave me her signature smile. Everything about her showed me that she wanted to hurt me and even more. She wanted me, in every way possible. Rated M(Mature content): Contains triggering content, read at your own risk.

"I know her you've seen her, so you're gonna tell her something for me." Jaxon says taking an extra step forward and I immediately step backward again. I can't let him get close to me. It's been years, but for some reason, he still scared the hell out of me. "What if I say no? What if I don't tell her?" I ask as I let out a shaky breath. "Oh, you're going to tell her." Jaxon says taking another step forward as I take one back, but my back meets a wall. "You tell her, that if I ever see her again, I'll kill her." "What did she ever do to you?" I growl, suddenly thankful for the wig on my head, covering my real hair. "She lived." Jaxon hisses and I knew what he was talking about. He wishes my sister had survived instead of me. Well, he can just join the club, he's not the only one. I swallow as he leans closer. "Do you think she'll understand?" I slowly nod. "She'll understand." I say. "Good." He smiles leaning back. "Also tell her to stay away from the strip. She doesn't deserve to race." "She'll never agree to that." I blurt out. It was the truth, I would never agree to that. "I guess you better find a way to convince her." Jaxon says. "Or your heads on the line." "Is there a problem here?" Wesley asks coming towards us. "No." Jaxon smiles before patting my shoulder roughly. "Besides, I was just leaving." He walks away leaving me alone with Wesley. "Are you okay?" He asks and I look at him. I scoff and walk away. I may be afraid of Jaxon, but Wesley doesn't scare me. And after everything that's happened, I hated Wesley.
