Five months after The Peculiar and the Tsarevich
Olive and Alexei met a year ago at his birthday ball, unknowing the ups and downs they would face throughout their relationship. When Alexei is now the soon to be Tsar, their time together is now limited greatly. Olive tries to stay strong, but with Alexei now ruling a country and marriage is now an obstacle to think about, their love needs to work to prove it's importance.

The young Tsar has just recovered from a severe haemophilia episode and, although advances in medicine seem to be promising for his condition, voices within the family are questioning his rightful place as Tsar of Russia.
