But Bellamy is a year late, and her hope is put to the test with an unexpected arrival.
                                            
                        Bellamy lost Clarke in the death wave. For six years her sacrifice has given him the strength to survive, but fate has other ideas. Because the Ring, that final piece of the Ark that once again saved lives, is dying. And they have no way back to the ground.
                                            
                        Icarus Mikeson is descended from the forgotten prisoners of the Eligius Colony. For one hundred and fifty years they've managed to survive, and now they're finally coming home. But Earth was not empty of human life, and those from the ground aren't very open to strangers.
