(Book 1 in the fantasy series The Crowns)

Alyvia is the youngest daughter of the king of Escarral, a land where magic is feared and hidden amongst the humans who possess it...and just happens to be one of those humans herself. When Lyv befriends a mapmaker and warrior from another land, she finds the friendship and belonging she's yearned for without having to hide.
Amory is an emissary from Dalcaine, a land ruled by Fae and one Escarral had been at war with just twenty years before. Along with his best and oldest friend Gideon, he works alongside the Escarrali king in opening relations between the two continents. He was anticipating doing his job and going back home, not irrevocably tying himself to the human lands after meeting Lyv, one of the most powerful humans he'd ever come across.
With her magic growing, Lyv gains help in controlling and mastering it with Amory's help. Amory has secrets of his own, though, including one that involves Dalcaine's Crown Prince Jai. But with rebellion brewing right under the king's nose at the hands of the queen, Lyv must fight to keep everything she loves safe or risk losing it all.

But when an accidental brush with magic causes her to see things -- ghostly apparitions that give her small glimpses into the future -- it has deadly consequences. The Sanctorum has returned to the island, and if they find her, they'll kill her. And anyone that tries to protect her. This includes her best friend, Skye. He was the boy that saved her. First book in The Risen Saga When sixteen-year-old Ava Robinson finds an ancient necklace in her backyard, she discovers her abilities and is introduced to the mysterious Hidden World. She's accidentally raised the dead by unburying the necklace linked to a witch named Emma Livingston. Emma explains the Hidden World to Ava in hopes that she'll help her stay in the real world instead of falling back into the endless abyss that she was so eager to escape. When Ava's best friend gets attacked, she changes her plans and struggles to help him instead, looking to her family for help, only to realize that family isn't as strong as one would think. Meanwhile, Emma visits her past life-with a biting past-once more to try to help Ava so she will help her, still set on self-preservation. Ava becomes associated with an underground force hidden from even the most perceptive eyes of the Hidden World and finds that they are in imminent danger from a traitor that nobody expected except Ava. It is a matter of life and death at the hands of a sixteen-year-old girl. With the revelation of her nature and her blood, is she strong enough to withstand the weight?
