It's not as fun as it sounds. 
What if, once a year, the government freed all in captivity for a day? Including prisoners, murderers, the mentally insane, etc. 
But, considering they're freeing everyone, Carnival Day is more like Carnival Week.
If you get caught by one of the Freed, you become one.
Some escape and never get caught again. 
But wait, what's that?
Maybe there's hope, after all. A character just happened to come across what seems to be a rebellion sparking in western America. 
I wonder what will happen...
(Seriously, though. I'm just making it up as I go.)

BOOK 1 From the moment the Declaration of Independence was signed, there were people who didn't agree with it. This included a small group of politicians who called themselves Chaos. They vowed to someday take over America and start over with a utopian society where everyone would have a common goal. They slowly infiltrated the government, filling it with corrupt leaders. They planned a mass attack on the U.S. on July 2, 2076, Americas 300th birthday. On that day, they assassinated the president and began bombing in New York. Unfortunately, Chaos only had about 200 soldiers so they came up with a technology to implant a chip in the nervous system and essentially control them. So basically, each solider could make a civilian a soldier and the civilian would be forced to fight and make soldiers of their own. The whole operation snowballed and everything went according to plan. Unlike in other stories, there is no hope and the only way to survive is though the CPO (citizen protection organization), created by Benjamin Franklin. It's a system of secret subway tunnels, used to evacuate civilians to safely. Out story begins on July 2, 2076 when the first bomb drops. Madalyn Grace and her friends are caught in this apocalypse and must find away to leave.

I didn't want to find out my whole life was a lie. I just wanted a bloody promotion. Guess fate had other plans? **** The cold air fanned over my face as I opened the door. The exit door lead to the back of the building so it was pitch black. I leaned against the wall trying to control myself. Blood was running down my arm and head. My hair was stuck to my face from all the sweat and blood. Everything was spinning around me and the ground seemed like it was shaking. Groaning I sat down and put my head on my knees. He knows who I am. He knows how I look like. He knows where I work so possible knows where I live. I am not safe anymore... no where. While I was in my own world I heard faint sounds behind me but I didn't bother to look or run away. The footsteps got closer and I was pretty sure it was Walker's men. I should run. I should try to fight. But what's the point in trying to run away? He would eventually find me and if he has his way he would most likely kill me. If this is my fate then why am I trying to fight it? I felt someone harshly grab my waist and pull me up and I complied. They dragged me down the alley and into the busy street. I heard the opening of a car and the next thing I knew I was being thrown into a car. My head hit the hard leather seat and the door shut behind me. Maybe this is how my life will end. Maybe I should just let it happen. Maybe I was destined to die alone as a no one. With that I let the darkness consume me.

They said that "Changing is part of LIFE.", at least that's what the CSD (Change and Save Department) used to say. They thought they created a "cure". A cure to save many people's lives from sickness, cancer, and all. Unfortunately... They were wrong. It was fine at first... However, their first test subject? It was for no good. Instead of a cure, they made a "virus". The virus is incurable for now. Many people protested against the CSD and the government. It changed.. but it was never saved... They said that once they bit you, in an hour the virus will spread throughout your body and kill you, then you'll be alive but not like you used to be. There are many survivors, but there are also many who have been turned into monsters. They call these monsters, "zombies". The CSD promised that they'll find a cure, but much-lost hope, lost hope for being alive, lost hope for survival. A 17 yrs. the old girl was in between that. Everything might sound and look horrible but she never lost hope for survival. "I'm running out of food.." she kept on talking to herself since there was no one but her. She saw a grocery store nearby so she checked it out if there were food, and fortunately, there was. She stuffed the food in her bag until she heard something. "Is someone there?" She asked, she hoped it wasn't what she thought about but there it was. The zombie's legs were twisted so it will have a hard time catching her. However, she never encountered that close. She stuffed the last food in her bag and ran. She ran to the girl's restroom. When she opened the door there were zombies! It almost caught her but fortunately, nothing happened to her. She ran back but there were more! "Please don't say this is how I'm going to die!" She said to herself. Is she going to die? Who will she meet? Will they survive this cruel world?? Amidst the chaos and destruction this group of people becomes more closer as they try to protect one another. while witnessing deads and bloodsheds as infected people turn wild, they struggle for their life while hoping for rescue. But I always catch the bad guy with the victim telling me everything I need to know and give the family involved closer. So it evens out as far as I can tell. Now just as my life is moving slower than a gator with a full belly, the worst happens. I get the call about a homicide that's hit too close to home. Ever since I was eight years old I have felt many different things for Emma O'Neal, and those feelings haven't disappeared with time. It was a Sunday night, family night for the Greens. They were playing a board game when it happened. At exactly 11:11 pm; a time for wishes, a sixteen year old girl wished for true love one day. At that exact moment her window smashed and something flew into her room. It was a flock of them; they attracted the house and only took one thing: the girl. She remembers it clearly, the way she screamed scared out of her mind. The way it grabbed her waist and took off. She remembers screaming for help but no one came to her rescue. Oh how she wishes that she left her safety knife in her room. Then they would be safe. Her family! She just hopes they were fine, but the conclusion that she was taken says that her family would be back to normal soon. She sighs and thinks over her life. From a little kid she was always the loner. But her family loved her to death. It all changed when she turned ten. The world was changing. She remembers the exact day at the exact time. Her birthday; she calls it the hell day. Something bad always happens on her birthday and that year was the worst so far. On February 20/2020 at exactly 2:20 On the news they had let out the horrible announcement. Scientist's experiments had gone wrong. They call them the "Stone Devils". They were escaping from the labs and into our world. Made of stone and all male. Winged creatures that come into the night. Steal and kill their prey. That's what she heard but she didn't believe it until a few nights ago. (kinda like the movie Warm Bodies)
