I've always wanted to become a part of a band. Not like a rock and roll band, although thats cool and all, but a symphonic band. One of those big ones with the trumpets and clarinets and French horns. I get this indescribable feeling when I listen to them.
So the day comes, my first day of middle school, 7th grade, all that jazz. My first class on my schedule? Band.
Eventually through the school year I learn about the top band, and all the members in it. And one member in particular that no one can stop talking about, Joshua Dun. The trumpet player who practices 5 hours a night and has gigs on other sides of the country. Everyone wants to be him.
His electric blue hair and C major lips have something about them that I can't shake. I just want to spend my days staring at him.

This is a short story about a band-obsessed outcasted teen and the handsome barista of the new café. (Cliché, i know. But pfff) Gabe is around his two best and only friends almost all of the time. The people in school make fun of him because they don't think he's 'cool enough'. But Gabe ignores them as good as he can. When the three of them go to the new café down the road, the hot barista immediately catches Gabes eyes. The barista seems pretty interested but Gabe is too scared he will only make fun of him like the others. Beneath the surface, though, she hides a secret that has nearly ruined her life once, already. You see, Jay is a closeted lesbian in a military town. Between her ultra conservative parents and the ever-swirling rumors caused by the betrayal of her ex-best friend, Jay is ready for her senior year to be over before it ever starts. On her first day, however, a chance encounter (or collision) changes the trajectory of her life. Demi is a transfer student, upset that her father's job has torn her away from the city, her boyfriend, and the life she knows. It hasn't been an easy adjustment to such a tiny, boring town, and she doesn't even have a car to get away. The first day of her senior year is going terrible, and to make matters worse, her clumsy feet have her stumbling down the stairs. When you're the only two queer kids at your small conservative Texas school, you stick together. Jasmine has always had a huge crush on Asher, but so has Sam. And Asher... is a confused mess. Follow their story of how these two try to purse their dreams of becoming musicians and if that dream is lost from a screwed up love triangle.
