Alsha Medi is not good at lying. She is a loud and forthright theater major, at home in underground punk shows or behind a fencer's mask. But after losing a love that consumed two years of her life, Alsha realizes how her brashness has left her ill-equipped for the real world, and for the London theater scene. Lost and low on cash, she finds herself an open book in a world of performers and pretending, a game she can hardly play.

When she receives a mysterious invitation to visit Shakespeare's Globe at midnight, she figures she has nothing to lose. What she discovers is just how much truth lies beneath the masquerade world she has come to know, and how much of a deceiver she must become to save it.
