This is a fan fiction for Mass Effect 3.
I was prompted to write a short story from the POV of a character who isn't really explored during the games. The story was to be around 250 words and take place during an event that actually occurred during the series.

A Second Chance
The galaxy is at war. As Commander Jane Shepard has been announcing for more than two years, the Reapers are a reality and their unstoppable advance has led them to devastate countless systems until they reach Earth. With civilization on the verge of collapse, and in a last act of desperation, the Alliance has decided to annul the sentence that weighed on Commander Shepard after the incident with the batarian colony of Aratoht, and entrust her with the mission of signing alliances with the rest of the races of the galaxy that will allow them to face the Reapers with greater guarantees. Miss You Dearly
Words sounded muffled, like her ears were full of water, yet she spoke as if she knew what people were saying. She just wanted to seem as if she were normal, but she knew better, she was terrible at hiding her emotions. She felt drained, depressed, lonely, but at the same time, she was angry. She wanted to stab something, kill it with her bare hands. She was angry at the council for protecting that murderer, angry at Saren for taking the love of her life from her, but more than anything, she was angry at herself. She was angry for not spending more time with Nihlus. She knew that if she told someone about how she was feeling, they'd likely tell her that it wasn't her fault and that she was blaming herself far too much, but now she had no one to talk to. She had barely any friends and her only family was John, and she didn't feel much too comfortable talking to him about such things. It was always Nihlus. He was always there for her. She felt so isolated from the world without him. ---------- Jane Shepard is a simple engineer on the Normandy, quiet and a bit soft spoken. While out on shore leave, she meets a turian Spectre who she fall deeply in love with, but when he dies, she's left sad and hollow. Her time spent depressed is short lived until another turian comes into a life, relighting a fire in her once more.Complete

So as we all know, at the end of Mass Effect 3, Shep has two options: Destroy the Reapers or work with them (and then there's secret ending number three that you get when you shoot the boy in which case the cycle will continue) in this, Shepard (Female Shep) chose to work with them, meaning she didn't destroy them. The relays were repaired, and the Citadel was repaired. This story will take place on Palaven, the Citadel, the Normandy (because she gives it to Garrus in this), and on Earth. Before you ask. Yes, Garrus and Shep were together before she died in this.~Sky Following two years after the death of Shepard, Garrus decides to move into her old apartment on the Citadel, one day, while he's out getting supplies for a get-together with his old friends, he meets Y/n L/n who will go on to change his life. Isaiah woke up in his tiny bachelor apartment on the Citadel and looked at the small holographic clock on his end table. It was already three in the afternoon, he had finally gotten to bed at around six in the morning having been out all night at the bar. He and a group of people he would casually refer to as friends spent the night and most of the morning "dusting up" in Purgatory. Isaiah was already a fairly gifted biotic having spent some time in the Alliance Navy and at the Grissom Academy when he was younger. He fell into a bad crowd while in the navy and never actually made it onto a space fairing ship. His superiors described him as gifted but severely uninterested, this resulted in his discharge. He moved from San Francisco back to parents' home on the Lunar Colony. Isaiah's father was extremely disappointed in his discharge making it almost impossible to co-exist peacefully and it wasn't long before he found himself on an Alliance freighter to the Citadel. He had been given a decent sized severance allowing him to afford to get set up and live in limited comfort on the Citadel's Bachjret Ward. The neighborhood he lived in was kind of run down but the price was right and it served its purpose. A place for him to rest his head in quiet after a night out with his friends.Complete
