If your first impression of someone is 'Oh god they probably hate me,' it usually isn't ideal to stick around.
But for nineteen year old Julie, that's the situations she's placed in when introduced to a friend (of a friend). Seventeen year old Addeline is pretty much silent from their first meeting on, and Julie can't help but wonder if Addi might just think she's a total lunatic, because honestly, it seems to happen a lot.
Scattered sentences turn to developing messages, and then full on conversations of paragraphs and paragraphs as Addi slowly seems to open up.
They go from strangers to friends in a matter of months. The two girls bond over how horrible yet beautiful life is, watching as it screws them over endlessly. But at least they had each other for comfort, solace, and someone to get ice cream with.
