"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you", he held up both hands to show that he meant no harm. His voice was low and gentle...almost soothing. He cautiously moved towards me and I tried to scramble further away, but I had run out of space. He immediately retreated, "Okay, okay! I'll just stay here. I'm not going to hurt you".

He slowly stood up, took the white butterfly embroidered towel from the hook on the wall, and tossed it to me. I grabbed it and looked at him in confusion. Does he want me to get out? "Your hand", he nodded towards me. I followed his gaze and looked down to see that my hand was covered in blood.
