Released : Part 1 -white belt : write a 100 words flash-fiction action about the realization of danger. The Gory Details (Gross)
Between 2004 and 2008 I wrote a series of "Tips for Writers" for Nocturnal Ooze magazine vaguely about what would happen in real life if you did the things they do in movies but mostly about the gross out. I've always loved them and so have taken them out of mothballs for a new audience here on wattpad. They're all here except for #13 which seems to have vanished. I've also left them mostly intact except for a few very dated references that have been updated. 30 Days, 30 Stories: A Writing Challenge
This is a 30 day writing challenge, a collection of short stories. I've always been a world class procrastinator. The goal of this challenge is to get me writing regularly and, hopefully, break me of the perfectionist thinking that often paralyses me. The Rules: 1. Write and publish 1 short story (flash fic, vignette) per day for 30 days. 2. Stories must be at least 100 words. 3. They can be of any genre or subject matter. Like a lot of writers I have notebooks lying around full of random story ideas. Most of my older ideas are for novels and screenplays. Been going thru my old ideas and picking out the ones I think lend themselves to the short story format. I'm also working on coming up with NEW ideas that I can use here. Never been good at using prompts, but this is a good opportunity to experiment with those. All the stories here are original works written specifically for this challenge. YA Paranormal-Mystery. It's like Stranger Things but with cults and urban legends, and also reads like a fast-paced, survival thriller. Similarities to Stranger Things: 👾Government Experiments and Conspiracies 👾Teens against Impossible Odds 👾Eldritch abomination beyond human comprehension 👾 Government-managed supernatural disasters. Other tropes Haunteds offers: 👾Superstitions and Urban Legends 👾Cult Killing and Mass Hysteria 👾Forced Proximity 👾Shared-Trauma Bonding 👾Found Family ⁍ Winner of the Wattys2020 Award ⁍ Wattpad brought the rights for it, although it already expired this year. (September, 2025.) Plot: If you ever take a headless selfie, pray that you don't live in Bastillio. Because in that city, it is the same as receiving a death sentence. It is proof that you are marked for death, a haunted one who is targeted by a living shadow of eldritch origin, which the citizens call the Shade. But when Vergil Torres found out he was a haunted, he was the opposite of scared. Because he knows that the government has built a shelter that has successfully kept haunteds alive for the past decades. But the gruesome and inexplicable death of one of them during their stay in the supposedly safe house renews the horror of the Shade. Vergil, together with his classmate and fellow haunted, the "traditional morena beauty" Cana Bernardo, decided to get to the bottom of it. The two classmates who were indifferent to each other must now work together if they are to survive through the month.Complete
