Elysia is a Freelancer; she does not live in one of the protected cities, she is not genetically engineered, and she is a woman. She is also not from this Earth, where there is only 10% of the once habitable land that is still fertile and can sustain human life, and women have become a scarcity and a hot commodity for the elite.
Alex is her best friend, and one of the elite. After being adopted by a rich family, he now lives the life of one of the last few million people on Earth, so 17th birthday marks the day of His Choice - the day that he will select a bride to help repopulate the Earth.
Both have been dropped into a world that they never thought that they would have to understand, and they have to, together, find a way to get back to their home. Their Earth.

Ratana's brother is captain of a premiere league football team, and a hero to the Siamese - and when he is booted from the squad to make space for the son of a powerful nobleman, it sets off a chain of events that could result in the toppling of the Empire. Self-Assembly Required: Human civilization has been almost entirely destroyed by a catastrophic plague of nanites, but one city remains, hidden and protected by Hydra, a team of all-female nano/human hybrids. Is the arrival of a roguish, lone-wolf mercenary a sign that human civilization is recovering, or the event that could destroy the few remaining survivors?
