500 years ago, in a world not very different from our own, Angels and Demons are a part of everyday society. While the races generally dwell in separate realms, anyone can pass between them at any time. Even though Angels, Demons, and Humans are relatively integrated, tensions between the three races are high. Due to past stereotypes, Demons are looked down upon, and seen as cruel or evil. Angels, however, are worshipped, and seen as divine, kind, merciful beings. Religion may not play as big a role in the lives of the Angels and Demons, but to the Humans, Religion is their way of life. In the eyes of Humans, the Angels and Demons are ethereal beings, since they naturally live for thousands of years longer and have "magical" abilities unlike the Humans. Tired of human prejudices dictating the lives of their people, the Kings of "Heaven" and "Hell" decide to join their realms through the typical solution. Marriage. The two Kings, as long time friends, think it's about time they joined their families, and connecting the two for the benefit of others overjoys them! So it was decided that the Crown Prince of Hell will marry the Crown Princess of Heaven. When the humans hear of this they become enraged that the beautiful, kind, Angel Princess will be given away to the monstrous Demon Prince, and the church feels they must do anything in their power to "protect" the "fair" Angel Princess, at any cost. But they couldn't be any more wrong.
One could describe this book as a "Romeo and Juliet" parody. And in a way it is. Just with an angel who acts like a demon, and a demon who acts like an angel.
- Aaron "So, is the Princess truly as kind and fair of an angel as she is described to be?"
-Maid "It's not that she's not kind, it's just that..."
-Aaron "Just what?"
-Maid "It depends on your Definition of Angel."
