Madeline Winters. When people hear that name whispered in the halls of McGregor high school, they think one of two things: a quiet and somewhat awkward girl to pick on, or nothing at all. What no one realizes is that they're tearing her down with each hurtful remark.

Cue Asher King moving into the school, acting as his surname immediately upon entering. With his tattoos, cigarettes and rough attitude, he's anyone but someone you would want to befriend. However, he also takes an interest in her that no one else ever has from the first glimpse into her empty eyes. What he doesn't realize is just how much of a shell she's become.

Maya has spent five dreadful months in the psychiatric hospital recovering. One she finally is released she is forced back into her boring life. But will things really be so boring still when she meets 'bad-boy' Noah Dalton? He is annoying, rude and always around Maya for reasons she can't understand. Maya is brave, yet also afraid that her choices could lead her spiralling back into a bad place again. Will Noah be able to save her from herself? Or will he be the cause of her destruction? ---------------------------- ~Noah's pov~ 'These,' I slowly run my finger across one of her scars, 'are fucking beautiful.' Before she can object, I carry on. 'Maya you are beautiful beyond perfection. You are strong. You are brave. You are funny. You are sweet. You are incredible. Look at yourself,' I nod down towards the scars on her arm and she slowly glances down at them before meeting my gaze again, 'those scars are beautiful. Do you know why?' I ask her. She wipes a tear from her already tear-stricken face before she shakes her head. 'Because every time you decided to do that to yourself, you didn't go further, you didn't end your life. You decided to carry on living even when you thought you couldn't manage it. Those scars right there,' I gesture to them again, 'show the battles you won against yourself. They are your battle-scars and you shouldn't be ashamed of them. And you know what? I am so proud of you for making it to where you are today because you are a fighter and If I can see that, anyone can.'
His Paper Heart ✓ by DamnThatSass

~Highest Rank #60 in humor~ ~#3 in death and life~ Sixteen year old Genevieve Kaelin considers herself a loner, neither a misanthrope nor a deviant. She has simply lost her connection to people and can not get it back as long as she is still the host for rare syndromes. In a town as small as Granville, the news of her disease spread like wild fire before the doctor even announced to her family. People of Granville can be sympathetic, however, they have the ability to avoid Genevieve like a plague, as if her illness is contagious. So what's the point of trying to fit into society when she knows how feeble her heart gets when she feels everything too much? That is until she meets the shining beacon for the recklessly chaotic, Gray Easton. Who says you can only find love in a coffee shop? On an autumnal night, Genevieve walks into a tattoo parlour with her twin sister to get a tattoo and break the chain of being the angel and goodie two shoes. There's one thing they have in common - almost. Gray can't feel. He claims he has a paper heart but perhaps, words have emotion and if she were to write on his paper heart, he would feel something. Anything. Even if it's unending irritation of dealing with Genevieve's perks and need to be a sinner. But is she willing to risk her life and heart for him to feel love? Cover by @destrction Unedited. ~ ~ In which a girl with three deathly syndromes triggered by strong emotions falls in love with me, Gray Easton, the paper heart activist. Note: This book raises awareness on religion, mental health, bullying, people of color, rare syndromes and gender equality.
Why We Laugh (#Wattys2018) by CarpeDiemWrite
40 parts Complete Mature
"The laugh cracked loudly into the school's atrium, like a shot of a gun. A quick bullet. A deadly bullet the pierces through flesh and bone. I realized then... that a laugh was as lethal as a bullet." I thought bullying didn't exist. And if it did, I wasn't a bully. Except I was. We all were. Not because we beat kids up. Or we called people freaks. Or gave them swirlies. Because we never did that. It was because we laughed." For these three kids, a playful laugh cuts deeper than a fist ever would. And the worst part is...they laugh along. 1.Eliza hides behind the brightest smile and stuttered words. 2.Reece desires the perfect body and will destroy himself to do it. 3.Hunter is the bad boy with sick suicidal jokes, screwing both Prozac and girls. But it is more than just those three: 4.London sits in her wheelchair trying to be normal 5. Ashton needs to return to the surface of people and stop cowering in the digital world 6. Griffith hides his autistic emotions. The story is told by a girl who always laughs. Drama, love, pain, tears, laughter, depression, weaknesses. We all laugh. But what does our laugh truly effect? "Hands down this is the best book I've read on wattpad. I don't even know what to say. I mean... I just.... Wow." -Irxdeo This book deals with heavy topics such as depression, suicide, eating disorders, abuse, so read carefully. I want to say some of these characters and scenes in the beginning are based on real people and real events, but some are not. Hi, guys! Thanks for checking this story out. Remember be brave and kind.
