Darrin Kapernick had dreams of leaving the small unincorporated steeltown of Clairton, with his girl, Aimee Christiansen, when hit with reality- his father's untimely death, which placed the weight of taking care of his mother on his shoulders, and his own academic ineptitude. What really bothers him though, is the "coming out" of his younger brother, Dorian- which furthermore adds pressure to his social status...can Darrin love his brother for who he is, or will he side with the masses who have already condemned him?
