17 year old, Tom DeLonge, has no one in his life. His parents are too busy caught up in their own conflict and he has no friends to share his problems with. His life is going no where and he plans on throwing it away by ending it. Right before he brings his life to an end, someone enters his life and plans on changing it forever. This someone is named Mark Hoppus. A 20 year old boy who's sister, Anne, warned him about the younger boy's emotional problems.

Mark is an English teacher stuck in a dead end job he hates; new boy Tom DeLonge starts, causing trouble and getting into fights, the year suddenly starts to become a whole lot more interesting.
