When you're far away from your shadow, you can see the light, the outside world in the blur. But when you get closer... until the only thing  visible is your shadow, the light from behind you does nothing; what we see we believe. So if all we see is our shadow then that's all we are.-KeSpiration 


Charlie has a plan.  Others call it a dream.  

She's an artist and aspires to be the best. Her three best friends are the reason she's still in this town. Well figuratively. Literally, No one can really afford to leave.  

But soon enough problems start to unwind about her home, about her friends, about the shadows.  And it leaves her hands shaking, gripping around a paint brush.  

It leaves this town in ruins.  
It leaves her life blank.

"Stop moving you idiot" I exclaimed loudly "i'm trying to get the tone right and you're screwing up the shadows!" ----- Freya didn't care about boys. She didn't care about her hair or her clothes. When you live in small, typical town like Portland, Oregon, you don't expect much. Arielle Martinez had her best friends, an annoying sister, and a single mother. Life was just a sweet time. He looks out beyond the edge and I can't seem to pull my eyes away from him. He smiles and speaks, but I can't hear anything he says. Even so, the buzzing seems to grow quieter and quieter till it's just silence all around myself and him. I watch his mouth move as inaudible words flow from it into the air, and his hands open as he gestures while he speaks. I watch as he looks turns to look at me to be sure I am following along, and then his eyes just wait on me and his mouth stops moving. I watch him mouth my name and tilt his head to read me. There's nothing I can tell him. Nothing that wont change things, but if I keep this going things will change. We knew something wasn't right from the moment we awoke. It was like something was missing - a part of our very souls - and we couldn't sense the deficiency, no matter how hard we tried. A hundred million eyes adjusted to the dark all at once, all surprised to be awakened so soon. We ran through our checklists of limbs and senses, drawing ourselves out of our dreams piece by piece. Some went back to sleep, unaware, unbothered, too tired to notice the difference. Some lay in bed, too anxious to stand until the light of dawn crept through their windows at last, and they were sure the monsters in their closets had gone back to sleep.
