One of Aspen's many faults is her inability to crush on available, age-appropriate people. Like that time when she was ten getting braces, she developed a giant crush on her orthodontist. Another time, when she was thirteen, she was convinced she was in love with her twenty-something-year-old counselor. Not to mention her countless crushes on fictional beings. Now, at seventeen, she develops yet another crush on someone she thought she couldn't have, her English teacher. Her unfortunate taste in women isn't all her fault. It's not her fault she gets along famously with older people, and not so well with children her age. Ms. Anderson is different from all Aspen's other crushes. Ms. Anderson seems to like her back. Now all Aspen has to do is convince Ms. Anderson to give her a shot. Hey, what's nine years, anyway?
