Start of Time | Animal Hybrid AU

"It's been 14 years Zeke, are you sure they'll come back for us?"
Said male glanced over at his brother to see a worried look in his dark brown eyes as he asked the same question for what seemed like the millionth time.
"Psh, don't worry. They've gotta come back for us eventually. It's not like they'd just leave us to die or something..Right?"
Zeke replied, though there was slight doubt in his voice.
"Well, I'm going back to check on Zoe. Be safe, make sure no Uplanders see you, kay?"
Zeke gave a small nod and rested his head on his arms, looking out beyond the glass to the other containment areas in the lab.
It was surprising that everything was still running after four years of abandonment, and it still left the young Zeke wondering.
As he looked out, he couldn't help but let his eyes wonder back to the same area he would look at every day.
He wondered if his glass was as easily broken as the others'.
