It was a frigid day in December when I felt plunging dread. I couldn’t help but feel something was amiss; perhaps it was the audacity of the weather that had me on edge. It was strange for it to be this cold in South Carolina, even in December. Then I felt it; a prickly, tingling sensation deep in the pit of my stomach. I was being watched. I quickly snapped my gaze from my book and scanned the woodsy area. I saw nothing out of place or unusual. I reassured myself and returned to my book but couldn’t shake away the feeling of unease.
