A young, shy, but very smart, teenage girl, Anna, who suffers from Hyper-vigilance, never being able to stay calm. The girl who no one wants to befriend, scared of what others would think of them. Until, one day, the new kid comes along and he initiates friendship, not scared of what others would think. She is a nerd, an introvert, he is an athlete, an extrovert.

Annie Hunter was a normal girl. Ever since she was bullied back in middle school, she has never been herself after that. Over the summer Annie came up with an idea. Mask. Now that she's starting high school, every day she would wear a mask. She not only decided to wear the mask to school but also at home. She wouldn't talk to her mom but she does listen to her. Her mom would get worried all the time and call a therapist to try and help her but it's just not helping. One day her English teacher assigned a project to the whole class. They needed a partner in order to start the project. She sat at a desk at the back of the class next to Chance Beckett, one of the most popular guys in freshman year, who she is partnered with. Chance is popular but he is not like his friends who would bully others. He is more of the friendly type, but Annie does not know that. Chance wants to be more than just partners doing a project together. He wants to be friends with Annie. He also wants to know what's hiding behind the mask. ... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!

These numbers showed how dangerous the person was on a scale of 1-10. So, a normal person would be a 1, while a trained assassin with an assault riffle would be more of a 7. What happens when the new kid at school turns out to be a ten? Paige may want to avoid this new kid at all costs, but looks like fate has other plans. So how will this end?
