Takes place after The Day of The Doctor and Gallifrey is saved. But the War Doctor still can't accept himself as the Doctor, and stops his regeneration. Not only is he being challenged with these thoughts but an old foe threatens the planet he swore to defend and has done so for centuries. Will he allow himself to change or will he simply fade away into darkness, being nothing more than a story? Can he stop his foe and save Earth from destruction?

As the Time War rages for the sake of the whole of the creation, the Daleks infiltrate time and space to change the course of events in their aid to bring about the destruction of the Time Lords and fulfil their supreme role within the universe.
