As a young woman Anna has a short, passionate love affair with a mysterious young man with looks, brains, and most a seductive power known as "duende."
This same dark power that pulls her toward him, will also turn out to be a curse she has to break. Not completely believing in magic or knowing how to break the curse, Anna continues to look for love in all the wrong relationships until she meets a handsome graduate student in ancient symbolism who holds the key to unlocking the curse, but as the truth of her past unravels before her, she will have to choose between love and magic, what is real and what is fiction. (Please leave a vote or comments if you like this because I have no idea if it's any good and don't know if I should keep working on it or abandon it for another story. Thanks.)

Anna Holland is a college freshman with strange empathic psychic powers that she has managed to keep hidden. She senses auras, feels what others feel as though she feels them herself, and has powerful intuitions that she is inclined to follow. Unfortunately, one of these strong urges leads her to being sucked into another universe where she is at the mercy of a dangerous warlord who calls her a mage and claims to have been waiting for her. 🏅1st Place- Fantasy-🌸 The 2023 Flower Awards🌸 🏅1st Place- Fantasy-⚔️The Katana Awards⚔️ 🥈2nd Place- Fantasy- Serenity Book Awards 🥈2nd Place- Best Protagonist- Fluorescence Awards 🥉3rd Place- Fantasy- The Prime Awards 2023 ______________________________________________________ Excerpt: Anna felt the stabbing pain from her back to her chest. She felt his surprise. She felt his light extinguish as he died. Then there was nothing. Nothing. Her head was swimming like it was underwater. She couldn't move. She couldn't move. Her vision blurred, a man was speaking but she couldn't hear his words. She felt the sword in her chest, but it wasn't there. He killed him. He killed him. Breathe. Did she stop? Breathe. The man, she could hear him speaking. What was he saying? Breathe. She inhaled a deep breath. And another. Then another. Things started to clear. "Breathe. That's right," the warrior coaxed. She started to take another settling breath, and his face came more into focus. The first thing she noticed was his piercing green eyes. She had never seen eyes quite like that before. She stared into them, mesmerized. He mimicked a breath and she took it with him. She was coming back. "I will not hurt you," the man kneeling before her promised. Anna knew better than to believe him. What was it he had said? Oh. "You...you said...you said 'no witnesses'." She was shaking violently. She took another deep breath. "Ah, " he uttered in acknowledgment. "You are not a witness, you are the treasure

"The fuck you are leaving me." His roar cracked through the hall like lightning. Ara didn't blink. She stood there, calm as death, done to her core. No tears. No tremble. Just a weary exhale as she turned her back on him - the one thing he never thought she'd do. Before she could take a step, his hand shot out, gripping her arm like he was holding on to life itself. "Where are you going, Ara!" His command shook the pack. But she wasn't his to command. Not anymore. Ara ripped her arm free with a force that made even his wolf recoil. "Don't. Touch. Me." Her aura slammed into him, cold and merciless. "You think I'll stand here and watch you mate and breed her?" she hissed, every word a dagger. His throat bobbed. "She meant nothing." She laughed - sharp, broken, brutal. "Yeah? That's why you were fucking her in your office? Couldn't even hide the scent of your betrayal." "Ara, it was a mistake-" She stepped closer, eyes blazing. "Your mistakes come in episodes, Alpha. Season one, season two, season three. You don't make mistakes. You make choices." He swallowed hard. "I don't need her. I need you." "Lies," she spat. "Every damn sentence you breathe is a lie. I can't even look at you without feeling sick." He flinched like her words physically hit him. "That female behind you?" she pointed, not bothering to glance. "Perfect for you. Go mark her. Breed her. Hell, fuck her for all I care." Her voice cracked - but she kept going, blade steady even when bleeding. "I don't need you. Not anymore." His knees crashed to the floor. The mighty Alpha. On the ground. For her. "Ara... I'm sorry. I'm really fucking sorry." His voice broke like he finally understood what loss tasted like. She stared at him with a sad, devastating smile. "Isn't it too late for that, Mate?" One tear escaped - and she crushed it away with her thumb. Then she turned. Walked. Didn't look back. But he didn't chase her. Because he knew. He didn't just lose her. He wrecked her.

Avalon has been having dreams of someone so special yet unknown to her since her accident. She constantly loses memories when she passes out at random times. Her two best friends, who began dating not too long ago, seem to be acting strange towards her. As days pass, she tries to figure out who this man is and she finds that he may be a lot closer to her than she originally expected. Note: This is a story I created and submitted a while back for a writing contest that had a maximum word count of 16,000 words and I wanted to make the most with having such a wide range, so this is likely to be one of the longest stories I will put on here. Thank you to anyone who reads :)
