Mina Daschel is poor. Dirt poor. It's not the end of the world, but sometimes it feels that way, especially as she struggles along raising her younger brother and sister while trying to keep her mom out of jail. Maybe she would have been fine, but then her mate, Blu, rejected her. Now all she can do is keep her head above water while life sweeps her further and further downstream.
Her Alpha notices. It's his job to notice, after all. But Alpha Alexander has a bigger problem. He's not much of an alpha. It's his best friend and Beta, Teague, who is the real muscle in the pack, but Teague is MateLess. Cursed to be alone until his wolf goes feral and Alexander has to kill him.
Why not kill two birds with one stone? Alexander institutes the Breeder program in his pack and gives the young Mina to his Beta, Teague, to be used to provide pups to the male. Of course, it can't really be that simple. There's the morality, naturally, and the rumors, and the falling in love, and Blu... but Teague isn't above doing whatever is necessary to take a Mate for himself.
