How many years had it been since I last had a good night's sleep?

I stared up at the ceiling of my room one night. It was late, much later than I should have been up. But I found it impossible to even think of falling asleep. My thoughts were racing and not even a sleep aid could calm my mind long enough to convince my body to rest.

With a soft groan, I pulled myself from the safe haven of my bed. I slid my slippers on and left my room. Every sound I made seemed ten times louder than it was. The last thing I wanted to do was wake my parents or Uncle up, especially when the baby was just about to be born, give or take a couple more weeks.

My midnight walk led me to the backyard, where I took a seat on the stairs and closed my eyes as a cool breeze blew by me. The night was so quiet. Not even a car dared stir. Everyone in Jasper, Nevada was sleeping, dreaming away.

I found comfort in the night. With the stars, the moon, and the shadows. The peaceful silence reigned and I didn't dare make any noise louder than a sigh lest I shatter the quiet that fell over the town.

My eyes slid open as I stared at the stars. Which one was Cybertron? Or was it even there?

My chest tightened. Like the answers to my many questions, it seemed I would not find the long-dead planet of the metal titans.
