Some people scoff at the thought of 'magic', the mere idea of pulling a rabbit out of a hat. I think these people would disagree. Who? They call themselves the Illusionists.

17 year old Sean. Prefers to be called Jack. A well-known 'magician'. He performs magic tricks, from simple ones like making a coin disappear, to large extravaganzas like making himself vanish before the audience.

18 year old Mark. A criminal known for conning both men and women, then stealing all their money. A master at lies. He could trick even a machine designed to spot lies.

16 year old Ethan. He's well known for his skills of hypnotization. Just ten words from him, and he could trick a guy into thinking that a cup of molten metal was a nice refreshing coffee.

Amy. Magnus. Adelina.

They're not the only ones fighting this battle.

What battle?

Well... what controls almost everything? And what thing would break humanity apart if it collapses?

Trust, my friend.

When their old babysitter leaves town due to personal reasons, Mrs. McLoughlin must hire a new one for her little two year old angel, Sean. Since she and her husband are never home as much as they'd like to be, and all their older children have moved away, she needs to make sure the sitter's availability is for their child and their child only. This is a problem considering every other nanny she's interviewed has another child or several in their care schedule. As she browsed through an agency's website, she came across a certain one who was seeking employment. At first, she thought it was strange to see a male babysitter, though, her doubts changed immediately upon reading several reviews that past families had given him. Both curious and desperate, she called the agency and asked for him. She had him come over the next day to see if he was fit for the job. ~~~~~ *Full sentences or phrases written in both bold & italic are dialogue going on in Mark's head. Actual dialogue will be italic and in quotation marks. If both font effects are used in one or several words in actual dialogue, it is meant to emphasize said words. If anything seems too unrealistic in your eyes, keep in mind that this is not only a fanfic, but I also visualize it a bit like a cartoon because of the art style.* (Only reason I made this was because of Some-Youtubes' adorable AU art of babysitter Mark and baby Jack. This book is also dedicated to the artist cuz they're awesome. Any art posted on here will be theirs, including the cover, I don't own it. Only the story is mine. Anyway, enjoy!) Word Count: 21,619

"Why did this feel so absolutely perfect?! And hey, how come nobody told me I was gay?!" Sean is an artistic guy. He loves to draw, more digitally than on paper, let alone his own skin. Mark was not as artistic as Sean. He focused his creativity more on comedy than art. They're both sick of waiting for their soulmates to show up. Hell, they're twenty-something, and still looking! The two boys are so busy looking for their other half, that they don't notice the little things; Mark scribbling notes on his hands for strategy games, Sean writing down dates for collab videos, and the random bored pen scribbles. But one day, their wild goose chase gets flipped on it's head. Ethan is a different story altogether. He just flat-out doesn't believe in soulmates. He pretends he does to make his friends happy, and to fit in so he feels like he belongs, but no matter how much he wishes he could, the blue boy just can't bring himself to believe in it. All those little doodles on his arms bring him are pain and emptyness. Tyler knows Ethan is his soulmate, and when he figures out what Ethan's been trying to hide, it breaks his heart. Tyler fears that if he can't make Ethan love him, it's going to be a repeat of his childhood all over again... this time, from third person. Who's that woman in the picture on Sean's dresser? Why does Mark care so much? Why doesn't Ethan believe in soulmates? Why does Tyler need him to? All of them have secrets they think no one else knows. But if they want a happily-ever-after, they can't stay secrets for long. And just... What is Kat's deal?! (The AU is basically when someone writes on their skin or gets a tattoo or etc., it also appears on their soulmate's skin in the exact same place.)

Millions of years before Jack Mac Paidin was born, a rift existed between the forces of good and evil, foisting one energy against the other. Only a rare, magical anomaly, known as The Power of Three, could tip the balance. Fast forward to 20th century Ireland, where the Mac Paidin family has held lands and influence for hundreds of years. Their magical legacy can be traced, through bloodline, to the origin of The Order of Light. As Sir Edward Mac Paidin's youngest child and only son, Ross (Jack's future father) is the heir apparent to the family fortune, destined to inherit the title of Magic Hat Maker. But Ross has other plans. Unbeknownst to him, Inez, his older sister, is an apprentice to a powerful witch, secretly devoted to an evil organization known as The Dark Cabal. This demonic cult has seduced Inez, and she is actively working to recruit her younger sister, Clara, to join her in pursuit of world domination. At the same time, far away in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jack's future mother, Faith, is growing up in a world filled with strange, magical influences of its own. How will Ross and Faith escape the bizarre world surrounding each of them to live a normal life and ultimately become parents to Ethan, Jack, and Sadie? What evil powers invade and ultimately crush their dreams, leaving the three children orphans, subjects to the will of their manipulative extended magical family members? -- The Golden Telescope is a fast-paced MG novel with magic, mystery, and mayhem.
