In the country of Aliponte, the population is divided into three groups. There are the Consilium, Praelium, and everyone else. The Consilim and Praelium have the ability to use elemental powers; fire, water, earth, air.
Diderik Spottswood owns one of the largest companies in the country, and is one of the most powerful Consilium members to ever live. When he begins to gather an army of his own to overpower the Praelium, he realizes he needs one thing. A lightning user.
Jack Wright is like any other Praelium student. He trains, and learns how to best serve his country. But one thing makes him different. He doesn't have one element like all the other Animae users. He has three. When he turns eighteen, he will have the rest of his power unlocked and will be more powerful than anyone else. All he needs to do is survive to his eighteenth birthday. Easy, right?
Scarlett Beaumont is thought to be dainty, rich, and dim. But that is what she has to pretend to be. When she is sent to infiltrate the Praelium school in search of the Lightning user, she had no idea what she would be up against. This time, it might be too much for the Crimson Killer.

"He likes your curves. Rightfully claims you as his... in his mind." Asher now speaks staring at the golden boy. I carefully peek through my lashes to find him still looking at me. "Are you jealous?" I dare to ask. He sits back at the wall staring at me. He runs his eyes down my body and slowly smirks. "Yes," "Good," I say digging my fork into the pasta. I then place the pasta into the carrots... Playing with my food. I have been scolded for this many times when I was back in the Ordinary world. Now there is no one to do that for me. Asher comes closer to me and I could sense the burnt wood in him. I smile as he wraps his arms around me. "Your mine. Only I can look at you that way. Only I can touch you. Only I can kiss you. Understand?" He asks me. I nod. He places a kiss on my lips and a kiss on my collarbone. "Good," I peek at my lashes again to find golden boy looking elsewhere. Coward. *** There are special people in the world. They call them elements. They don't have super powers there just... Special. They have something no ordinary human have. On a war decimated earth, there are few safe places, and even fewer safe cities. All that's left are ruins, woods, and cities where humans are trying to build society again. No one knows the truth behind the war, but it is believed the Strongs began it. And so, to stop it from happening again, they are killed. Most humans now have an affinity of varying strength for one of the elements: fire, earth, water, air, and rarely mind. There are some who have a Strong affinity. The Strongs are able to manipulate the elements - and are killed for it. Fighters are born without an affinity and trained from a young age to kill the Strongs. Their gift of being unaffected by the Strongs' power make them ideal assassins. Makenna is a Strong Fire. She and her best friend Halima, a medium mind, have been on the run from Makenna's mother for the past two years. Drystan Aston, a Fighter, and a childhood friend of Makenna's, is dead set on finding them. As Makenna and Halima run for their lives, and Drystan chases after them, all three will uncover startling truths about the world they live in. Will they discover the whole truth in time to stop the disaster? Will Drystan finally complete the quest he has been dead set on for the last two years? Or will Rhona, his Strong mind grandmother, be proven right?
